Utah in Silly (Hot) Season

Or YEEEEEWTAH as ive been calling it.

This state is incredible! SO much to do here, but the heat is holding the adventures back a little, at 40 degrees plus for the majority of the day (and not beginning to cool till 7pm), we are finding ourselves having to get up super early to ride until midday or so then heading back to hide in the AC somewhere (cafe/restaurant/library/supermarket/hostel).

Here's the route below generally heading in an Easterly direction through Utah starting in Nevada heading towards the mountains of Colorado.

Glenn Canyon National Reserve

Glenn Canyon (below) with the Colorado River

Calf Creek Falls (below) a short hike out from nearby Escalante

Zion National Park

Monument Valley (below)

Moki Dugway (below)

Valley of the Gods (below), coming off the Moki Dugway you can take this awesome graded dirt section through the desert surrounded by hoodoos, an hours ride or so back to the highway to meet up with the Monument Valley - Blanding road.

Some great trails around Moab (Slickrock below) where you are riding up and down the hummocks of bare rock with some sandy sections between; pretty technical riding at times with a couple of hairy moments with steep drop offs! Arches (pics. lowest below - you can see the view from Delicate Arch right in the back there) via the 'back road' which was in fact the original dirt road entry into the park and now makes for a great bike trail.

Out of Moab again was the incredible Canyonlands National Park (below) where you can access the park via the Shafer Trail (the dirt switch backs in the photos that take you from towards the base of the canyon up high onto the rim.

Dead Horse Point, Canyonlands (below)

Utah has been spectacular, although we had the trails to ourselves, I would recommend it maybe at least a little towards the cooler season! There remains a lot to do there, and you could easily spend a whole season in this area of the world.
